Ever wondered what it feels like to carve stone by hand?
Join me for a relaxed, hands-on day at the beautiful Stockton Bury Gardens in Herefordshire. I'll introduce you to the tools and techniques of stone carving, demonstrate the basics and guide you through creating your own small sculpture.
No previous experience is necessary - just bring some enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go. A one day workshop set in the glorious surroundings of the Stockton Bury Gardens, aimed at beginners, led by award-winning professional sculptor Jan Bruce.
A maximum of 4 carvers per course ensures plenty of attention and guidance to help get you started.
The day will cover tools, techniques and stone characteristics, followed by mapping-out of the design onto the stone, and starting to rough-out your sculpture. You are encouraged to bring your own ideas, sketches and even models…
